Oh America! America!

The only home I have ever known
Your anguish is my anguish
To see your fall from grace!
I am weeping the tears of a mother who wishes to hold her only dear child
but cannot for they are lost
and there is no comfort to be found
Oh America, America!
Such is my shame that I can no longer proudly hoist your flag to the top
of the mast and salute
Oh America, America!]
Where freedom is for a chosen few
and I must stand desolate among the second class citizens
clothed in sackcloth and ashes mourning
Oh America, my mother!
How I long to be held to your breast
and suckle freedoms sweet milk
but you do not want me
Prodigal America!
I bessech thee
Let me know you as a loving parent
Let me be able to shout thy once glorious name to the very heavens
When will I-WE be able to ufurl your banner again
and sing in the words of our fore beares
"My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty"
Why have you turned your back on your own people?
What have we done to provoke youtr disfavor?
Please turn your face towards us
That we might know the comfort our our motherland
Let us be FREE from your crushing embrace!
Oh America, America!

Life

The sea flows
The wind blows
The grass sways
The monk prays
The musician sound his horn
The squirrel gathers acorns
The rooster guards his flock
The artist dons his smock
The ant gathers
My mom watches Dan Rathers
The wise solemly meditates
The writer painstakingly creates
The acrobat practices tumbles
Mouse and Pippa do the jumble
Is it fate?
Or maybe life is just great

One in Three

One in three queer youth attempt suicide I've been told
Living in a world
Different is wrong
The bitter taste of bigotry in their mouth
Day in, and day out
Societys accusing finger points
You're corrupting 'Americas Family Values'
But I say blame is a shame game
and shame is a lit cigarette dropped in your lap
And not much use to us
Judgements no good either
How about listening?
One in three queer youth attempt suicide, you know

Fade away

Everything fades away
But love is here to stay
Listen to the the hippies wise words
For the pen is mighter than the sword
Peace the world unites
But hatred always leads to a fight
Learn to take care of each other
Stand brother to brother
You'll always have have a shoulder on which to lean
If we just keep smoking this green

Ink

Ink stains
On my hands
all the permanence
Of a freckle
Tell-tale marks reveal
What I do
For a living

Chess

If I were a chess piece
I would not be a pawn
A queen holds all the powerful moves
For then I would have a drag queens abilities
And put all the powerful moves on women
If I were a mobile piece on a chessboard

Clay

If I were clay
I'd be easily manipulated
but them hardened
against lifes adversity
in experiences kiln
Yet without a potter
How would my personality be sculpted?
I fI were a formless lump of clay
