Just another cog in the machine

just another cog in the machine
part of the 9-5 daily grind
you'll find it's hard to unwind
when you belong to the 9-5 daily grind
when your a hamster on a wheel you can't get ahead
the irs won't stop breaking down your door till your dead
I'm a slave trying to be free
they make the true path so hard to see
Just a servant with a different master
it makes my head spin faster and faster
Just a slave with a changing overseer
It won't stop soon-
I fear
Here they come with their pills
(no crazies here) So now it comes down to a battle of will
I dared to speak out, speak out for change so my body they must kill
Cause I'm just a cog in the machine

I always eagerly greeted the Dawn

I always greeted the dawn whilst my siblings slumbered on
Honoring the sun enshrouded in its tunic of fog
Feeling the morning misty breeze
Clear and refreshing across my countenance
Filling my spirit with glee
The rooster rises too and let out a triumphant crow
With a great batterting of wings
And glee it brings!
Spying the first worm shyling poking forth from the earth
Searching skies in fear of the first sparrow
The joy reaches to my marrow!
Dancing in the dew, sky streaking from gray to blue
The bird arrives now breaking forth in song to the dawn
And so gather all worshipers in a mighty throng
A canopy of sounds resound
All I see! Ah me!
The gifts that belong to the early riser!
I find myself all the wiser
For I gladly greeted the dawn
Whilst my siblings slumbered on

Wind Swept Firs

The pine needles that rain down from windswept firs
to lie still in their forest bed
Across them, a foot tread
Humans filled these woods with dread
but I am hear to say have no fear of me
For as winter frost seeps into spring thaw
my heart melts
And your plight is felt
For who with words can capture
the way the woods fill me with rapture

Dust of Dissidence

If we would let the resound with our voice
Till the very trees tremble
From root to leaf with love
We'd all chose to assemble
Picking through our thoughts
Until we settle on the one that's not
Allowing for harmony
Just think how much else of our minds would be free
For us to just BE
And when we happen upon unfair circumstance
let us shake the dust of dissidence from our shoes
Cast away the negative energy so yo won't be lead astray
The energy of the universe flows freely from poet to poet
And verse will be the better of the worse
You and I know it
And freely show it
The glow
that comes from the reflection of love in one's inner self
It's not something you can go to a grocery store and pick off the shelf
It has be grown while holding hands with neighbor and child, not alone
In one's own home
Found in the garden of peace and watered with love
Allowing us new ways to cope
If we just stop searching heavens above
And looked inwards we'd discover the answer is lovw
Would there be shedding of blood?
No, fow shake the dust of dissidence from our feet
And hatred would end in defeat

From Whence I Came

I do not give one fig for my own lives remembrance
but my verse
Ah me!
if only this page would spring forth into eternity
I would gladly lay forgotten
turning back into the dust from whence I came

Shackles of Fate

put on the shackles?
accept your fate?
allow me to demonstrate
the american way of life
only leads to hardship and strife
slave to capitalistic ways
and the christians way to prey
they only lead you astray
so I break away day after day
you'll find faith is blind
leaving you in a bind
i'm a square peg trying to fit in a round hole
trying to be whole
